A shirt advertisemnt that shows just how deep the old wounds still are.
The war has ended and peace has come over the country. The war ended when the Serbians were forced to surrender and agree to a peace treaty. The arrival of NATO troops was the beginning of the end as they forced the Serbians to agree to peace, “NATO forces were deployed to Bosnia in 1995 to keep the peace. A fragile peace agreement was reached in December 1995”(Jessup, 85). For several years the country wasn’t very stable. In fact it took NATO troops to provide peace, “The presence of NATO forces who were strong enough and willing to fight has helped maintain at least a semblance of order”(Jessup, 85). The government is back in control and quite steady. Much distrust and hatred has come from the war. But a fragile peace had come over the country and has only grown since. The NATO armies were strong enough to stop the Serbians and their rampage and some were kept there in order to prevent genocide from happening there ever again.
